Gemischter Satz, the German term for a field blend is also a traditional Viennese white wine made from multiple grape varieties grown in, what is now, the suburbs of the city. Fritz Wieninger’s blend is made from fruit grown in his Bisamberg vineyard and contains Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) and Chardonnay which is fermented together and aged for three months before bottling. It has a lovely aromatic nose with ripe pears and mango notes whilel on the palate it’s elegant, subtle and full-bodied with white stone fruit flavours and smoky, exotic spicy notes. Very well balanced and a real pleasure to drink.
